Edward studied neurophysiology, anthropology, and psychology at the University of California, San Diego.
He has conducted research in comparative and evolutionary neuroanatomy, addiction neurobiology at The Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, California, and the effects of zero gravity on intracranial pressure through the prestigious Microgravity University, hosted by NASA.
His areas of interest include the neurobiological underpinnings of chronic pain, medical anthropology, illness narratives, social determinants of health, and the relationship between the individual, culture and society in the expression of illness. He is currently focused on identifying areas in which digital health solutions exist for problems and inefficiencies in how the existing healthcare system addresses chronic pain.
